Artist Biography

Hans Aggarwal immigrated to Canada when she was six months old, and is living a life that is split between the Canadian and the Indian.  Her artistic ventures began as a young child, helping her mother fill saris and canvases with expressions of home.  As an adult, she furthered her visual art education through workshops taught by well-respected local artists and by practitioners from St. Lawrence College.  She has joined several artists associations to further her understanding of the business of art.  She continues exploring her visual artistry in acrylics, mixed media, and digital formats in a self-teaching manner.

Artist Statement

My life is filled with contradictions which I express in my work.  My culture and ever-present extended family drive me to add action and vibrancy of colour.  But, the subjects I choose reflect the refuge I seek in the serenity of natural settings.  I try to capture my subjects in a realistic manner.  But, I also create abstract pieces using materials that normally become part of our land-fill.  The commonality in my work is the expression of the colour, shape, and texture of fleeting experiences.

All exhibitions occurred in Ottawa, Ontario, unless otherwise indicated.
