Welcome to

Birch Island

Fall, 2009

Only the very young loons are left.  The adult loons, along with the eagles and hummingbirds, the osprey and herons and all of the other summer residents have left.  The trails are covered with thick carpets of red and yellow leaves.  The fish have gone deep.  The young loons will soon be off;  they have no choice.

A doe and her fawn are on the Island and hanging around the cottage.  The sunsets are brilliant turquoise and green and deep reds.  The stars are spectacular.  And the cottage is closed until after ice-up.

This is the start of our 10th year at Birch Island.
